Fox Familly just picked up the rights to Paper Lanterns, a film written by author, humorist, and illustrator Jonny Sun, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film will be a hybrid of live action and animation “that pays homage to Chinese folklore in a way that feels contemporary and fresh,” according to Chernin Entertainment, who is producing the film.

Fox Family president Vanessa Morrison, Nate Hopper and Rachel Yeung will be overseeing for the studio.

Sun, an affiliate art professor at the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society at Harvard, as well as a creative researcher at the Harvard metaLAB, became a beloved figure on Twitter by making simple, heartfelt observations. He later parlayed some of his Twitter notoriety into a 2017 book Everyone’s a Aliebn When Ur a Aliebn Too, which was named as one of the year’s best comics/graphic novels by Amazon.

More recently, he’s teamed up with Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda for the novel Gmorning, Gnight!: Little Pep Talks for Me & You, has been hired as a staff writer for Bojack Horseman’s upcoming sixth season. He also has a three-book deal with Harper Perennial.
