Star Wars Actor Andrew Jack Dies of Coronavirus at Age 76

ComingSoon.net is saddened to report (via Metro) that Star Wars actor and famed dialect coach Andrew Jack has passed away at age 76 due to complications from coronavirus. He was currently working as a dialect coach on Matt Reeves’ The Batman, which recently put production in London on Hiatus due to to the current COVID-19 epidemic.

The British thesp had worked on over 80 movies since his start in 1982. He is perhaps best known for his role as Resistance Major/General Caluan Ematt in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. He also voiced Lady Proxima’s henchman Moloch in Solo: A Star Wars Story. He worked on Rogue One: A Star Wars Story as well. His other major contributions included work with with over 200 actors including Robert Downey Jr. (Chaplin, Restoration, Sherlock HolmesDolittle), Pierce Brosnan (GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, Die Another Day), and Cate Blanchett and Viggo Mortensen for The Lord of the Rings films, on which he created the Middle-earth, Elvish and Black Speech accents. He also served on Chris Hemsworth’s coach on recent films such as Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Men in Black International.
