Disney•Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur kicks off a diverse week with February 23 also bringing home Tom McCarthy’s critically-acclaimed Spotlight (currently nominated for six Academy Awards) and Billy Ray’s intense drama, Secret in Their Eyes, starrring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Nicole Kidman and Julia Roberts.
Other recent big screen releases coming home February 23 include director Bernard Rose’s contemporary take on Frankenstein, Lawrence Roeck’s western thriller Diablo, Steven C. Miller’s CIA thriller Extraction and the true football tale My All American.
The Criterion Collection delivers two very different comedy dramas September 23, inducting into the collection both Mike Nichols’ eternal coming-of-age comedy drama The Graduate and Antonio Pietrangeli’s I Knew Her Well, which follows Stefania Sandrelli as a young woman attempting to become an actress and model in 1960s Rome.
Shout! Factory continues to give the works of the late Wes Craven impressive Blu-rays, releasing this week a collector’s edition of the horror master’s The Serpent and the Rainbow. They’ve also got two double features hitting September 23. One includes both The Curse and Curse II: The Bite and another pairs the time travel thriller Millennium with the 1987 robot rampage feature, R.O.T.O.R.
Warner Archive has a double serving of Humphrey Bogart this week with the HD debut of both The Big Sleep and Key Largo. On DVD, they’re offering up two Hedy Lamarr films, White Cargo and Lady of the Tropics. Then there’s a full nine westerns (Lawless Valley, Arizona Legion, Trouble in Sundown, Racketeers of the Range, Timber Stampede, The Fighting Gringo, Bullet Code, Prairie Law and Stage to Chino) included in the George O’Brien Western Collection.
Kino Lorber releases this week two Fritz Lang classics, Woman in the Moon and Spies, both of which hit Blu-ray for the very first time.
Small screen releases arriving February 23 include the recent Doctor Who Christmas special The Husbands of River Song, the second season of the acclaimed FX series Fargo and, on DVD only, Disney XD‘s recent telefilm, The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar.
Finishing out the week are a quartet of Digital HD releases. An ensemble cast of A-listers lead Adam McKay’s terrifying true story of American economics, The Big Short; James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe headline 20th Century Fox‘s Victor Frankenstein; Chris Hemsworth hunts a whale in Ron Howard’s In the Heart of the Sea; and Saoirse Ronan delivers her second Oscar-nominated performance in director John Crowley’s Brooklyn. We’ll find out if she wins this Sunday!

The Good Dinosaur
- Sanjay's Super Team Theatrical Short (in 3D on the 3D disc) – Sanjay loves the world of cartoons and comics, while his father tries to draw him into his Hindu traditions. Reluctance quickly turns into awe-inspiring adventure as the boy embarks on an amazing journey, returning with a new perspective they can both embrace.
- True Lies About Dinosaurs – We know, it's preposterous to think Apatosaurs spoke English. Learn more about what separates the fictional dinosaurs of The Good Dinosaur from what scientists know about real dinosaurs.
- Recyclosaurus – Pixar takes creative competition seriously. Maybe a little too seriously. Watch as The Good Dinosaur crew competes to see which department can create the best dinosaur ever…using only discarded items from the studio's "free table."
- The Filmmakers' Journey – Finding your way from an idea to a film takes a lot of exploration. Director Peter Sohn and his fellow filmmakers talk about the challenging, inspiring, and unexpectedly emotional experience of making The Good Dinosaur.
- Every Part of the Dinosaur – The filmmakers talk about the special animation challenges of The Good Dinosaur – including figuring out how to animate a dinosaur who's really a boy, and a boy who's got the spirit of a dog.
- Following the T-Rex Trail – Follow the filmmakers as they travel to a working cattle ranch and meet the McKays, a close-knit family whose work ethic, generosity, and stories inspired the T-Rex ranchers of the film.
- Commentary from director Peter Sohn, story supervisor Kelsey Mann, supervising animator Mike Venturini, director of photography/lighting Sharon Calahan, and supervising technical director Sanjay Bakshi.
- Dino Bites – Montage of original animated pieces produced to promote The Good Dinosaur.
- Hide and Seek – A short animated clip produced to promote The Good Dinosaur.
- Deleted Scenes:
The Attack – An idyllic introduction to the family farm is cut short when a savage predator attacks the newborn Arlo. With an introduction by Director Peter Sohn.
