Sarah Wayne Callies will be back for the Prison Break revival
FOX has today confirmed that Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead, The Other Side of the Door) will be back for the upcoming Prison Break revival event series. She will reunite with series stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell as brothers Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows.
The original Prison Break producing team, including series creator Paul T. Scheuring (Zero Hour), Neal Moritz (The Fast and the Furious franchise), Marty Adelstein (Aquarius, Last Man Standing) and Dawn Olmstead (The Whispers, Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce) will return to executive-produce the new series, with Scheuring serving as showrunner and writer.
“I would describe it as a bit of a sequel,” FOX chairman and CEO Dana Walden told EW. “It picks up the characters several years after we left them in the last season of the show. The brothers will be back. Some of the iconic characters from that show will be back. It definitely will address some questions that were set up at the end of the series and for a new audience.”
Although Miller’s Michael Scofield did not appear to survive the direct-to-DVD series finale telefilm Prison Break: The Final Break, it was revealed that series creator Paul Scheuring has an explanation for Scofield’s return.
“He’s not going to disregard it,” Walden continued. “You will get a satisfying answer to why these characters are still alive… I don’t think he’s going to completely ignore what happened in that episode, but what he pitched to us was a very logical and believable explanation in the world of ‘Prison Break’ for why are character’s alive and still moving around the world.”
The original action drama Prison Break ran for four season on FOX between 2005 and 2009.
