A number of recent theatrical titles kick off the week of July 26 starting with the comedy franchise sequel Barbershop: The Next Cut. There’s also the Melissa McCarthy comedy The Boss and the incredibly well-received musical drama Sing Street. Action fans, meanwhile, should be sure to check out the first-person extreme actioner Hardcore Henry and/or the action drama Criminal, starring Kevin Costner as a sociopath implanted with the memories of a CIA agent. You can check out a behind-the-scenes clip from Criminal in the player wherein Costner explains what drew him to the project.
Criterion this week inducts another Terrence Malick film as 2005’s The New World joins Badlands, Days of Heaven and The Thin Red Line in the collection. Kino-Lorber, meanwhile, debuts on Blu-ray Richard Brooks’ Deadline USA, starring Humphrey Bogart.
Shout! Factory has a trio of cult features debuting on Blu-ray July 26. Look for Nathan Juran’s 1973 thriller The Boy Who Cried Werewolf, the 1982 franchise thriller Death Wish II and 1985’s prison exploitation thriller Hellhole.
Warner Archive delivers another round of rare theatrical fare via MOD DVDs. Arriving July 26 are the 1952 comedies About Face and Stop, You’re Killing Me, the 1958 thriller Manhunt in the Jungle, 1963’s Moss Hart biopic Act One, and the 1966 musical Stop the World I Want to Get Off.
Small screen titles arriving July 29 include Mystery Science Theater 3000 Volume XXXVI and the complete Where’s Huddles? The former continues Shout! Factory‘s impressive commitment to the Satellite of Love with a new volume that includes Stranded In Space, City Limits, The Incredible Melting Man and Riding With Death. The latter brings home for the first time the short-lived Hanna-Barbera cartoon series.
Arriving via Digital HD July 26 is the complete third season of HBO‘s Silicon Valley.
