Wedge Antilles Officially Confirmed for Rise of Skywalker!

Wedge Antilles officially confirmed for Rise of Skywalker!

The Rebel pilot Wedge Antilles helped get Luke Skywalker & company out of some tight scrapes in the original Star Wars Trilogy. Now Lucasfilm has revealed, via the cover of new book Star Wars: Resistance Reborn by Rebecca Roanhorse, that actor Denis Lawson will return as an older Wedge in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. See the full image in the gallery below!

Not only is Lawson (the uncle of Ewan McGregor) coming back to the character after 36 years, the book also reveals a fun fact: Snap Wexley, the Resistance pilot character played by Greg Grunberg in Force Awakens and Rise of Skywalker, is actually Wedge’s son! Not only that, but Wedge trained both him and Poe Dameron at the Academy. Read the entire excerpt from the Rise of Skywalker prequel book here!

“How is Poe?” Wedge asked. “He was one of my best students. Besides you, of course,” he added hastily for Snap’s sake.

“Now I know you’re lying,” Snap countered. “I was a terrible student.”

“You were a terrible student,” Wedge agreed.

The three of them laughed, but Norra frowned, mouth tight.

“What do you mean Poe Dameron showed up at the last minute? Isn’t he Black Squadron’s leader?”

“Snap was flying Black One on this mission,” Karé said, a note of pride in her voice.

“That’s great, son,” Wedge said, beaming. “I knew you would lead your own squadron one day.”
