The Pinkerton: Warner Bros. Acquires Supernatural Western for Bad Robot
Deadline is reporting that Warner Bros. has acquired Daniel Casey’s (F9, Kin, Kill or Be Killed) spec script for the supernatural western The Pinkerton for J.J. Abrams and his Bad Robot banner. The project will be the first original film under Bad Robot’s overall deal with Warner Bros.

Details on the project are being kept under wraps besides the film being described as a “supernatural revenge-western hybrid.”
The Pinkertons were a private security guard and detective agency established in the US by Scotsman Allan Pinkerton in 1850. Pinkerton became famous when he claimed to have foiled a plot to assassinate president-elect Abraham Lincoln, who later hired Pinkerton agents for his personal security during the Civil War.
One of the Pinkertons, a relative, was featured in David Milch’s HBO series Deadwood. Sarah Paulson’s character Alice Isringhausen was related to the Pinkertons and ruffled feathers with the town’s saloon owner and kingpin Al Swearingin.

J.J. Abrams’ upcoming projects also include Lovecraft Country, Little Voice, Lisey’s Story, Mission: Impossible 7 and 8, Aporia, and more. Bad Robot also recently boarded Warner Bros.’ DC Comics title Justice League Dark for potential film and TV outings.
