The report states that Centineo had been nearing a deal to play the iconic Prince Adam, aka He-Man, in an upcoming film based on the popular property. Instead, a representative for Centineo has said that he is no longer attached to the project, although a reason for the departure was not given. Masters of the Universe is slated to be written and directed by Aaron and Adam Nee (Band of Robbers), after a lengthy search for writers that spanned a handful of other names as well.

The film will be based on the popular Mattel series and toy line from the 1980s, which sees Prince Adam defend the planet of Eternia and Castle Greyskull from the likes of the evil Skeletor. An icon of the 80s, it spawned comics, films, and many television series including 1983-1985’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon and She-Ra: Princess of Power.
