Recent big screen releases coming home June 21 include the comedy sequel My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, the spy comedy
The Brothers Grimsby, Terrence Malick’s ethereal drama Knight of Cups, Jeff Nichols’ sci-fi drama Midnight Special and director Roar Uthaug’s Norwegian disaster tale The Wave.
Also arriving June 21 is a collected set of the BBC‘s recent Shakespearean minseries The Hollow Crown: The War of the Roses and, debuting directly to DVD, the Paul Dini-scripted animated feature Tom and Jerry Back to Oz.
Warner Archive has another great Blu-ray release June 21 with the first ever HD release of director Charles Walter’s 1964 biopic The Unsinkable Molly Brown. They’ve also got a trio of classic crime thrillers debuting on DVD with Peter Godfrey’s The Great Jewel Robber (1950), Harold F. Kress’s No Questions Asked (1951), and Irvin Kershner’s Stakeout on Dope Street (1958).
The Criterion Collection has a treat for animation fans arriving June 21 with the first ever Blu-ray edition of René Laloux’s 1973 science fiction fantasy story Fantastic Planet. Shout! Factory, meanwhile, turns their attention to writer and director Alan Shapiro’s The Crush. The 1993 thriller (which introduced the world to actress Alicia Silverstone) gets the HD treatment (as well as a number of brand new special features) courtesy of the Scream Factory label.
Small screen titles arriving June 21 include a Blu-ray release for the first modern Doctor Who series (although not filmed in HD, the earlier series are being upconverted and reissued) and, hitting DVD only, the second season of ABC‘s How to Get away With Murder and the sixth season of Comedy Central‘s Workaholics. Also arriving only on DVD is the complete Power Rangers Ninja Storm series, collecting all 38 episodes of the show.
Titles debuting via Digital HD the week of June 21 include young adult franchise sequel The Divergent Series: Allegiant, Richard Linklater’s “spiritual sequel” to Dazed and Confused, Everybody Wants Some, the Nina Simone biopic Nina, starring Zoe Saldana, the action ensemble Vigilante Diaries and the animated adventure LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League: Gotham City Breakout.
