EA pushes Anthem back to early 2019, confirms Battlefield for 2018

Electronic Arts (EA) is pushing back BioWare’s Anthem until early 2019. The news came during EA’s third quarter earnings call. The Wall Street Journal reports that EA has denied an earlier report that said the delay was due to development being behind schedule. “It’s not a delay. People are trying to create a story,” EA’s finance chief Blake Jorgensen told the site. Anthem, it is thought, will do better in a quieter quarter.

Instead, in October, EA will release a new Battlefield game. Anthem was supposed to hit in fall of 2018, though a specific release date was not specified. There are currently no details on the upcoming Battlefield game. The last one, Battlefield 1, was set in WWI and was released in October of 2016.

In Anthem, a new shared-world action-RPG from EA’s BioWare studio, team up with friends as Freelancers—the bold few with the courage to leave civilization behind and explore a landscape of primeval beauty.

Are you guys disappointed to hear that Anthem is not coming until next year? Are you excited to see the new Battlefield game in October? We want to hear from you! Leave us your thoughts in the comments below.
