The cast, which will be led by The Girl in the Spider’s Web‘s Claes Bang in the titular role, will also feature Sacha Dhawan (The Boy with the Top Knot), Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (Misfits), Catherine Schell (On Her Majesty’s Secret Service), Youssef Kerkour (Jack Ryan) and Clive Russell (Game of Thrones). The first part of the drama series will be helmed by Jonny Campbell (Westworld), while part two will be directed by Damon Thomas (Killing Eve) and part three by Paul McGuigan (Sherlock).

Dracula is inspired by Bram Stroker’s classic novel and was written and created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss. The 90-minute episodes will re-introduce the world to Dracula in 1897 Transylvania where the blood drinking Count is drawing his plans against Victoria London.

“It’s seriously delightful that our new Dracula is being shot at Bray Studios, the former home of Hammer Films,” Gatiss said. “This wonderfully atmospheric and legendary studio gave birth to so many famous monsters and stars – most memorably Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee.  As we watch Transylvania once again rise on the sound stages of Bray, it’s amazing to be able to say that Count Dracula has finally come home.”

“It was one of those moments — who else could it be than Claes. He has it all. Brilliant, gorgeous, charismatic, lethal. Tall, dark and gruesome all at once,” Gatiss, Moffat, and Sue Vertue previously stated in regards to Bang’s casting.

Wenger and Director of BBC Content Charlotte Moore Dracula commissioned the series, which is written and created by Moffat and Gatiss. Executive producers are Gatiss, Moffat, and Sue Vertue for Hartswood Films, Ben Irving for BBC and will be handled by Tanz for Netflix. BBC Studios Distribution will handle the international distribution.

Dracula is expected to debut on the streaming service sometime late 2019 to early 2020.
