Prime Video Schedule Additions: New TV & Movies Arriving June 13-19

It’s time for some Summer teenage drama.

On June 17, Prime Video will release the much-anticipated adaptation of The Summer I Turned Pretty book series. Author Jenny Han leads the project as the showrunner at Amazon’s streaming platform.

Per the official synopsis, “The Summer I Turned Pretty is a multigenerational drama that hinges on a love triangle between one girl and two brothers, the ever-evolving relationship between mothers and their children, and the enduring power of strong female friendship. It is a coming-of-age story about first love, first heartbreak, and the magic of that one perfect summer.”

The cast features Lola Tung, Jackie Chung, Rachel Blanchard, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Sean Kaufman, Alfredo Narciso, and Minnie Mills, with Colin Ferguson and Tom Everett Scott.

Prime will also debut The Lake, an upcoming Canadian comedy series. Briefly, the story focuses on a divorced gay man returning to his comfy Canadian cottage after breaking up with his long-term partner. Additional cast includes Julia Stiles, Madison Shamoun, Jon Dore, Carolyn Scott, Natalie Lisinka, Travis Nelson, Declan Whaley, and Terry Chen.

“Justin (Jordan Gavaris), a recently divorced gay man, brings Billie (Madison Shamoun), the biracial daughter he gave up for adoption, to the lake where he summered as a boy. Justin hopes spending the summer together with Billie will bring them closer,” reads the synopsis. “Still, Justin’s obsession with wresting control of his family cottage back from his stepsister Maisy-May (Julia Stiles) only pushes them further apart. It will take a lot of growing up for all parties to learn how they fit into a family, including the Iron Lady of the lake, Maisy.”
