ComingSoon.net sits down with Leonardo DiCaprio and the rest of The Revenant cast
Earlier this year, Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Birdman took home four Academy Awards, including Best Director and Best Picture. This Friday, he’s back on the big screen with 20th Century Fox and New Regency‘s The Revenant. Inspired by true events, The Revenant cast includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson, Will Poulter and Forrest Goodluck, all of whom sat down to speak with ComingSoon.net about the haunting tale of survival in the wilderness of early 19th century America. Check out the full conversation in the player below wherein DiCaprio compares his character’s journey to themes that he has previously explored in films like Inception and Shutter Island, while Tom Hardy explains why audiences seeking a satisfactory revenge story are intentionally going to be somewhat disappointed.
In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass (DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald (Hardy). Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption.
The Revenant is based on the novel by Michael Punke. Mark Smith and Iñárritu wrote the script for the movie, produced by Arnon Milchan, Steve Golin, David Kanter, Keith Redmon, and Iñárritu.
Opening in limited theaters on Christmas Day, The Revenant expands wide on January 8, 2016. You can check out ComingSoon.net’s own positive review of the film right here.
