Star Wars: The Force Awakens breaks Spidey’s Tuesday record as well

After breaking Spider-Man 2‘s Monday record, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has now defeated another of Spidey’s records. According to Walt Disney Pictures, Lucasfilm‘s The Force Awakens has set the new Tuesday record with an estimated $37.3 million, besting The Amazing Spider-Man‘s record of $35 million from 2012. Internationally, the movie added $41.3 million on Tuesday for a worldwide total of $78.6 million for the day.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens has now earned $325.4 million domestically and is the fastest film to cross the $300 million mark in five days, surpassing the previous record of eight days set by Jurassic World this June. Overseas, the movie has reached $364 million for a worldwide total of $689.4 million.

Directed by J.J. Abrams, the movie stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Max Von Sydow. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk produced the film with Tommy Harper and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers. The screenplay is by Lawrence Kasdan & J.J. Abrams and Michael Arndt.
