Sasha Baron Cohen Gets Serious In The Spy Trailer
Netflix has unveiled the first trailer for their 60s-set espionage limited series The Spy, which stars Sasha Baron Cohen (This Is America, Borat) flexing his acting chops and digging into a serious role. They also released two new posters for the series, one in English and one in Hebrew. You can see all this for yourself in the post below!
Written and directed by Emmy winner Gideon Raff (Tyrant), The Spy will follow the story of former Mossad agent, Eli Cohen, who is one of the most legendary spies in the world. Cohen lived in Damascus undercover at the beginning of the ’60s, spying for Israel. He managed to embed himself into Syrian high society and rise through the ranks of their politics. His actions, connections and immense sacrifice have had lasting consequences, shaping the Middle East of today.

The limited series will also star Noah Emmerich (The Americans) as Eli’s Mossad handler Dan Peleg, Hadar Ratzon Rotem (Homeland) as Eli’s wife Nadia, and Waleed Zuaiter (Colony) as military officer Amin Al-Hafz. It will be produced by Légende Films and Alain Goldman.

Cohen is most known for his deeply satirical roles in comedies, acquiring worldwide recognition for his work in Da Ali G Show and Bruno. His feature credits also include Les Miserables, Hugo, The Dictator, and the Madagascar franchise.
The Spy will kick off on Netflix starting September 6.
