April was famously not in the 1989 arcade game from Konami. But despite her lack of experience in the game, she appears to be able to keep up with the turtles through her array of melee attacks. She even uses her reporting equipment as blunt instruments to bludgeon the Foot Clan. As for her visuals, developer Tribute Games (the same team behind the beloved and recently re-released Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game) drew inspiration from her 1987 design, which explains her yellow jumpsuit.
