HBO has officially decided to renew Jesse Armstrong’s acclaimed drama Succession for a fourth season. The renewal comes after the series had made its long-awaited return with Season 3 last October 17, which according to the premium network, drew over 1.4 million viewers across all platforms. The marks a new record for the drama, making it the best premiere night of any HBO Original series since the launch of HBO Max. Directed by Cathy Yan (Birds of Prey), episode 3.03 titled “The Disruption,” is set to air on Sunday, October 31.
“With each season of SUCCESSION, Jesse Armstrong has continued to surpass our wildest expectations, pulling us deeper into the Roy family’s inner sanctum with indelible wit, humanity, and precision,” Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, Francesca Orsi said in a statement. “This season is undoubtedly no exception, and we couldn’t be more excited for all that’s in store in this next season ahead.”

Succession follows the story of the Roy family – Logan Roy (Cox) and his four children – who control one of the biggest media and entertainment conglomerates in the world. The series tracks their lives as they contemplate what the future will hold for them once their aging father begins to step back from the company.
The series stars Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Alan Ruck, Kieran Culkin, Sarah Snook, Nicholas Braun, Hiam Abbass, Peter Friedman, Matthew Macfadyen, Rob Yang, Dagmara Dominczyk, Arian Moayed, J. Smith-Cameron, Justine Lupe, David Rasche, and Fisher Stevens.
“In Season 3, ambushed by his rebellious son Kendall at the end of Season 2, Logan Roy begins Season three in a perilous position, scrambling to secure familial, political, and financial alliances,” reads the official logline. “Tensions rise as a bitter corporate battle threatens to turn into a family civil war.”

Succession hails from creator, showrunner, and executive producer, Academy Award nominee Jesse Armstrong. Executive producers are Adam McKay, Frank Rich, Kevin Messick, Will Ferrell, Jane Tranter, Mark Mylod, and Tony Roche.
