Jake Gyllenhaal Got Advice From Tom Holland After Forgetting His Lines in Spider-Man: Far From Home

Jake Gyllenhaal went on to The Howard Stern Show to discuss his new film The Guilty, which is now streaming on Netflix, and discussed his experience in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Mysterio. To Stern’s surprise, Gyllenhaal explained that shooting Spider-Man: Far From Home was quite challenging.

“It’s hard. That acting is hard. All of it. That world is enormous,” explained Gyllenhaal. “That situation is a train that already was moving. For me, normally I come in way early on and I get to play and figure it out. It was like, you’ve got to deliver in that space and it was a whole different craft. They’re moving with ideas, which is so fun about it. It’s actually really creative. If someone has a better idea, they will shift an entire day around that idea. So it’s really creative.

“The first day of shooting, I remember not being able to memorize my line. I was like … what the? I was the wooden board and they were like, ‘whoa.’ I went up to Tom Holland and was like, ‘Dude, help me out.’ He was like, ‘It’s all good. Just relax.’ It was like he was me in so many situations [as he was helping me]. I finally did [get it together], but I put a lot of pressure [on myself filming Far From Home] because I love that world.”

Gyllenhaal explained that the pressure is just immense and it gives him even more respect for those that are able to shine under the spotlight. “Sam Jackson is just rolling with it, they’re changing movies around him, and I can barely get my line out [laughs].”
