Attack on Titan’s final season will return in January 2022, as announced by MAPPA on the show’s official Twitter account.

When the first part of Season 4 ended the studio gave a date of “next winter” for the second part, and it seems like there shouldn’t be any delay in the production. MAPPA also announced that a new recap special featuring characters like Levi, Ani, and Mikasa will air sometime before the rest of the season.

At the moment Funimation hasn’t announced the plans for Attack on Titan’s English dub, so it’s unclear if that will hit at the same time as the subbed version. MAPPA also hasn’t announced an episode count for the second part, and it’s unclear how closely the show will follow the remaining plot of the manga, which officially ended earlier this year.

Attack on Titan’s ending in the manga was hugely divisive among fans, so it’ll be interesting to see if MAPPA decides to follow the same style, or chooses to strike off on its own.
For those looking to catch up on the series, Attack on Titan is currently streaming on Funimation, Crunchyroll, Hulu, and more.
