Oscar-nominated director Rian Johnson took to Twitter to confirm that production on his upcoming sequel to 2019’s acclaimed whodunnit film Knives Out has finally begun in Greece. The Knives Out 2 filming start comes three months after Netflix has officially acquired the growing franchise for over $400 million, which includes the rights to the upcoming second and third installments.

Further details about the plot and its characters are still being kept under wraps, but Daniel Craig is expected to reprise his role as private detective Benoit Blanc. Just like the first film, Rian Johnson has assembled another star-studded cast who will be joining Craig in the second installment. This includes Dave Bautista, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Kate Hudson, Madelyn Cline, and Jessica Henwick.
Knives Out 2 will once again be written and directed by Johnson. It will be produced by Johnson and Ram Bergman. The first film had grossed over $311 million at the worldwide box office and had also received acclaimed and multiple award nominations including an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay.

Knives Out featured an all-star cast led by Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, LaKeith Stanfield and more. It followed the mystery behind the murder of rich novelist Harlan Thrombey, portrayed by the late Christopher Plummer in one of his final movies.
